Interview with Michael Bossman Landry

February 9, 2017

1- Hello Michael, can you please tell us a bit about yourself?
First I’d like to thank you for your time and providing me with the opportunity to get my brand more exposure. I’m from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. I grew up in the same neighbourhood as rappers Boosie and Kevin Gates. I first started a clothing line called One Life Clothing back in Feb of 2015. Gave that a shot for about a year and some change and then decided it was time to expand my brand. I’ve always had a love for music growing up. It just so happen that while I was looking for something else to start up that my younger brother was having some issues launching his music career. So I decided that starting a record label would be my next venture to add to my One Life brand. So April 2016, I started One Life Entertainment Music Group.

2- What are your focus areas and why?
Right now I’m just focusing on building One Life Entertainment Music Group’s brand name. Building the foundation is very important. In less than a year, I’ve released 2 nationwide albums and 1 mixtape all independently. All the music can be found on Itunes, Google Play, Spotify to name a few sites. Building each artist fan base and creativity are also a big focus. The money will come but the work must be done first.

3- How do you describe “One Life Entertainment Music Group” in few words?
Hungry lol. My entire label is starving lol. We’re a big family though. Everyone vibes together and support each other.

4- Where do you think you are making an impact?
We are starting to gain some momentum right now so wherever we can make an impact at, I’m fine with it. We are a diverse label.

5- What are some things that most people don’t know about your job?
I also manage a few of my artist. As the CEO, that’s not really your job. Artist should have a manager but if they don’t have one, I handle lots of things. I also try to teach my artist the business side of the industry.

6- Where do you see yourself in the next 5 years?
I want to see us on the same level as say Young Money or MMG. I want all my artist to be stars. They all have the potential, it’s just about the right people hearing them and seeing what we can do.

7- What were some of the biggest challenges you encountered while working on “One Life Entertainment Music Group”?
I knew nothing about music when I started the label. I was learning everything as I went. Then I had others who wanted to sign but at the time, I didn’t really know how to do that. The contracts were all new to me so I held off on doing signings. But everyone can’t be signed anyway lol.

8- What can you tell to young people who are pursuing their dreams?
Keep it up. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something. You don’t need to have all the answers but you do have to have the drive and determination. Visualize yourself being successful and it will come. Everyone has a different I deal of success so stay focused.

9- What are you most excited about at the moment?
Right now I’m very excited about our upcoming album titled Let’s Eat which will be dropping March 7th everywhere. This will be the first compilation album I release just to showcase the actual talent that my label has. All the artist will be on there; Money Boy, Mac, Cage, Byrdgang Karter, Sara, and Unkle-E.

10- The last word or final thoughts?
Lookout for all the new music we have coming out. You can see our music videos on our YouTube channel: 1LifeMuzik. You can also follow us on all social media @1LifeMuzik. Again thank you for all your support and giving me the opportunity to expose my brand more. If you are a producer and create beats, please send them to onelifeentertainmentbooking@gmail.com.
